I don’t live in the USA, am I excluded from e-commerce tax?
I live in a tax-free country(tax haven). My services/virtual products are exempt from tax. I am expecting to have a customer base from around the world, USA and tax countries included. Should I or my customers pay any tax? if so to whom?
More Information: I might use the services of a US-based web hosting company, will that be an issue?
Does anybody know a company for money transfer (e.g. paypal) that allows tax-free?
There is no “e-commerce tax” in the US.
If you are a non-US person (i.e. not a US citizen or lawful permanent resident and reside outside of the US) and your business is not effectively connected to the US (i.e. you don’t own a business in the US) then you have no liability for US taxes. Using a US-based web hosting service won’t create any US tax liability for you.
For transfer of funds, credit cards and bank wire transfers are the preferred method in international commerce. While there are bank & processor fees involved on both ends there are no US taxes on either.
