What is the best web site hosting company?
I’ve done a basic Google search considering price, reliability, and a free domain. I’m considering the blue host discount package $3.95 a month w/two year commitment. Will I get what I pay for? Why are local companies so expensive in comparison? I checked the yellow pages and some want $29.00 per month and more.

This was an important decision for me. We’ve found that BlueHost offers quality hosting for the price, although in our testing HostMonster (which is owned by the same company and has the same pricing) has shown slightly better reliability (99.92% uptime vs. 99.74%). 1&1 is also very good, with 99.99% tested reliability. The cost is $6.99 per month, but they currently offer the first year of a two-year hosting agreement for free, making it a bit cheaper than BlueHost.
