If I want to block something?

I want to learn how to use the Hosts file to block websites. But does it work on popups. I’m trying to block a popup. It works on sites that I go to like facebook. I don’t know. Im confused and lost and I don’t want to get a virus. I already have Norton the free trial. BTW does norton block that kind of stuff. In case you were wondering that popup includes stuff guys like to look at. No offense. I’m a girl. I hate that stuff.

Check out openDNS.com. The instructions are easy to follow, it’s a free service and you can block by content category (like “adult”).
